Titans sign Michael Carter as another ex-Jet joins Robert Saleh

Another old Jets friend is joining Robert Saleh in Tennessee.

Former Gang Green running back Michael Carter signed a deal with the Titans on Wednesday, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Carter, who turns 27 in May, played three seasons with the Jets from 2021-23 under Saleh after being taken in the fourth round by the franchise in the 2021 draft.

In November 2023, Carter was released by the Jets and later claimed off waivers by the Cardinals.

He will compete for handoffs with Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears in Tennessee’s backfield.

During his Jets days, Carter made 39 appearances (21 starts) and ran for 1,079 yards with 10 total touchdowns.

Last season, Carter played 13 games for the Cardinals, running for 333 yards with a touchdown.

He is also a threat in the passing game, catching 33 passes for 267 yards last season.

Carter makes it five former Jets who have joined the Titans this offseason.

Former Jets backup QB Hendon Hooker reportedly joined up on Wednesday, as well.

All except Hooker played under Saleh during his tenure as Jets head coach.

The Titans also added wide receiver Lance McCutcheon, who is coming out of retirement after three years out of the league.

Tennessee is looking to improve under Saleh after falling below .500 for the fourth straight season and going 3-14 for the second straight year.
