Hold Onto Your Butts: ‘Summer House’ Stars Amanda Batula And West Wilson Confirm Their Taboo Romance, Setting Off Seismic Sh*tstorm Another bomb has been set off in the Bravo universe. Amanda Batula and West Wilson, stars of Summer House, addressed (and confirmed) rumors that they are dating in a lengthy joint statement posted to their Instagram Stories on Tuesday (March 31). While the news may feel innocuous to the average fair-weather Bravo watcher, those of us who have been keeping up with Summer House over the years immediately thought of Ciara Miller, Batula’s best friend and Wilson’s ex-girlfriend.
Miller sparked a romance with Wilson when he joined Summer House in Season 8, which was filmed in 2023. Their summer fling lasted into the fall before Wilson decided to end things for “show-related reasons.” Basically, Wilson’s debilitating allergy to commitment stopped him from pursuing a deeper relationship with Miller. The topic was explored at the Summer House Season 8 reunion, during which Miller tore him to shreds for breaking her heart, and continued well into Season 9, as Miller gave Wilson the cold-shoulder throughout most of the summer.
But by the time Season 10 came around, the tides had shifted. Miller was more open to rebuilding her friendship with Wilson, both parties had started flirting with each other again, and they even admitted to having lingering feelings for one another. Seeing their undeniable chemistry back on the small screen had fans pushing for Miller and Wilson to rekindle their romance, and after photos of them at the Super Bowl this past February began circulating online, many were sure they had.
Unfortunately, those hopes came crashing down amid rumors that Wilson and Batula, who announced her separation from Kyle Cooke earlier this year, had been hooking up. The duo took to social media this week to confirm the rumors, revealing that their relationship is “still very new” and that their “connection grew out of a genuine long-standing friendship.” The Bravo universe immediately began showing support for Miller, who was captured slumped against the Hermés store in New York City mere moments before they posted their statement. Southern Charm star Venita Aspen called out Batula and Wilson for failing to apologize for hurting Miller, while Summer House stars Mia Calabrese and Lindsay Hubbard, as well as Traitors Season 3 star Boston Rob Mariano have also posted in solidarity with Miller. Even Jon Hamm declared himself “Team Ciara” on Watch What Happens Live, and Rihanna reportedly unfollowed Batula on Instagram.
The hype this scandal has unearthed hasn’t quite been seen by the Bravo universe since Scandoval broke in March 2023. After Vanderpump Rules alum Ariana Madix discovered that her then-boyfriend Tom Sandoval had been cheating on her with their mutual close friend Rachel “Raquel” Leviss, the world stood by her as she raked in millions in brand deals, joined Chicago on Broadway, began acting in Lifetime movies and network television, and became the new host of Love Island USA. The phenomenon of scorned-woman-turned-heroine has since been dubbed “the Ariana Madix effect,” and there’s nothing I want more than for Miller to be the next Bravo star to experience that level of post-betrayal success.
I know what you may be thinking: Miller and Wilson dated for, like, four months three years ago. It’s nothing like what happened with Madix and Sandoval, who were in a committed relationship for nine years at the time of his affair. While that may be true, the sentiment remains. Miller and Batula have been inseparable ever since the former joined Summer House in Season 5. Batula was Miller’s shoulder to cry on after Wilson broke her heart, and her confidant when Miller started to catch feelings for Wilson again last summer. Not to mention, Batula was also present when Miller tearfully opened up about the “racial aspect” to her relationship with Wilson, and how she got a lot of “blowback” for “letting a white man play” her on national television. Wilson might’ve been the one to spend last summer flirting with Miller only to “play” her yet again, but Batula aided in the crime knowing Miller still had feelings for him, and that makes her just as guilty.
Therefore, Miller has every right to feel sad, hurt, and betrayed — and even more so if Deuxmoi’s report that she and Wilson had also been hooking up as recently as the last couple of weeks are true. While Miller might’ve lost two friends this week, she gained an entire network of fans and supporters who are ready to watch her take her broken heart and turn it into art. We’re thinking hosting gigs, scripted television, the cover of Vogue! Until that time comes—and it will—we will be getting our popcorn and Loverboys ready to watch Miller eviscerate her castmates at the Season 10 reunion.
Summer House airs on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
