Chet Hanks and Eric André’s years-long beef explained

Chet Hanks and Eric André unexpectedly crossed paths at ComplexCon 2026 in Los Angeles — after more than three years of public feuding.

The “Running Point” actor confronted the comedian at the festival in October 2026 (as seen in a video obtained by TMZ at the time). Things got heated when they began screaming at each other before André’s security team eventually intervened.

Hanks was a guest on Season 6 of “The Eric André Show” in 2023.

The actor, who is the son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, allegedly became extremely problematic during filming.

Chet allegedly stole a motorcycle and rode it around the studio during filming.

André slammed Chet in an interview with Rolling Stone, saying his behavior on set was “very dangerous.”

“Chet Hanks, on the other hand, was a tough cookie. He broke our crew. It felt like ‘Rust,’” André told the outlet, referencing the Alec Baldwin movie that resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

“He is … emotionally disturbed. He stole a motorcycle and rode it around. He almost knocked a bunch of grips and gaffers off their ladders.”

The “2 Broke Girls” alum also claimed Chet “tried to sleep with Ziwe.”

Chet took to his Instagram Stories to issue a scathing response to André over his claims, saying that the TV host was mad because he was “outshined” on his own show.

“I thought you were funny and cool, but turns out you’re just a p–y,” he said in a video at the time.

“I was just playing along with your schtick, dude. But it is what it is. Some people are just straight bitches. Apparently Eric André is one.”

André seemingly took the comments in jest and reposted the clip to his Instagram Stories.

“Everything Chet Hanks just said about me is a f–king, bold-faced lie. He’s a f–king liar,” the “Bad Trip” star alleged.

“And I dare him to take a f–king DNA test and prove that Tom Hanks is his f–king father.”

TMZ obtained video of Chet confronting André at ComplexCon in LA.

As seen in a clip that went viral at the time, he approached André from behind at the multi-day convention and tapped him on the shoulder.

André turned around and held out his hand and asked, “What’s up?” However, Chet did not return the shake.

The men then got into a screaming match before André’s security intervened and removed him from the tense situation.

Chet took to Instagram after the heated moment made headlines, mocking André for traveling with four security guards “because the environment makes him uneasy.”

The nepo baby went on to reference his appearance on André’s show, writing, “[He] had NO MEMORY WHATSOEVER of trashing me to the media after I outshined him on his show!!”

“After being sheltered by his security team, [he] began foaming at the mouth and admitted it was because he had a problem with me ‘mocking Caribbean culture’ when I did my Jamaican accent all those years ago,” he continued.

Chet concluded, “WHO KNEW that in addition to the brain rot and poop joke humor he is known for, Eric is also such a passionate cultural activist!!! Great running into you Eric!!!!!”

André’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment at the time.
