Intel will remain involved in Elon Musk's Terafab initiative, keeping its role in the effort to develop large-scale chip manufacturing capacity, CEO Lip-Bu Tan said, according to a Tuesday report from Bloomberg.
The project drew fresh attention after Musk said he was discussing a potential partnership with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. The comments raised questions about Intel's position as Terafab's development partner.

Intel joined the initiative in April alongside SpaceX, xAI and Tesla. Its work is centered on areas including silicon fabrication, chip design and advanced packaging as the group seeks to build computing infrastructure at a scale of 1 trillion watts per year.
Tan's remarks indicate that discussions with Taiwan Semiconductor may not displace Intel from the project. The chipmaker has been seeking opportunities to expand its manufacturing footprint while working with external partners across the semiconductor industry.
