Make California Post a Preferred Source At least one person believes Oregon quarterback Dante Moore was to blame for USC linebacker Desman Stephens II targeting him during last weekend’s game.
That person is USC radio broadcaster Pete Argobast. A video clip of Argobast justifying what Stephens did right after it happened has gone viral on social media.
“He did not try to slide feet first. And Stephens went in helmet-first, but he kind of ran into Dante Moore, who ducked into that hit,” Arbogast, who has called more USC football games on radio than anybody else in history, said.
“I did not see him put his feet out first. I saw him dive forward, and not give himself up,” Argobast added.
Someone off-camera mentioned that Moore was laying feet first, to which Argobast said, “He is now, because they spun him around!”
Then the broadcast team watched the replay. Upon doing so, Argobast said. “Yeah, not a feet-first slide. More of a knee slide. It didn’t look like targeting on the play to us.”
When Argobast said this, his broadcast partner Shaun Cody looked to the camera wide-eyed and nodded his head, showing that he didn’t agree with Argobast’s claim.
This video clip has gone viral, and fans are enraged about how Argobast is trying to twist what happened and justify what was clearly targeting by Stephens.
Perhaps Argobast now sees the play in a different light now that he has time to digest what happened. He has some explaining to do if not.
