Corey Sipkin for the NY POST The Mets did the right thing removing the interim tag from Andy Green and making him the full-time manager for the next three years. Mets honchos were long suggesting that Green would return to the front office next season, but Green as manager makes more sense than a time-wasting search for so many reasons. Such as:
1. Green did extremely well in his half-year tryout, guiding a seemingly dead team (and one that was further depleted by the trade of their four best relievers and others) to close to a .500 record at 37-38.

2. Green’s shown terrific strategic and, especially, motivational skills. They aren’t playing like a dead team that’s been out of it for months.
3. The manager is the face of any franchise, and Green is a terrific spokesman who knows what to say and what not to say, and how to say it well.
