He is for free speech only if it’s favorable to him.
Such a view contradicts conservatives’ argument that there should be no censorship and people should be free to decide the truth.
It’s long been accepted that there are right-leaning and left-leaning news outlets.
Is the real issue that Trump is a snowflake and can’t stand any criticism, so he uses his power to try to silence the news?
It’s been obvious for a long time that MS NOW, CNN and Politico don’t have America’s interests at heart.
One can listen to the president speak and then read something published by these three outlets that is twisted in such a way that it does not even come close to what he actually said.
The press has an obligation to report the news, factually and in an unbiased manner.
There’s a difference between the freedom of the press and being the mouthpiece of a regime.
The president is wrong; no journalists should be banned.
Former President Barack Obama was also wrong in removing conservative newspapers from his press plane and attempting to block Fox News from an interview.
How about we stop the finger-pointing from both sides?
Also, the press should stop the inflammatory comments and be a little more objective.
However, covering the White House is a privilege, not a right.
The sound of silence can be very loud, as President Trump has found out.
The opening of his White House helicopter landing pad was shown but not heard, an oddity in modern news reporting but all his own doing.
By trying to silence several media outlets, he has attacked the freedom of the press and the First Amendment and won himself a fightback with decreased coverage by protesting news outlets.
It’s tempting to be pleased with the reduced coverage of Trump, but any restriction to public debate is wrong and a worrying sign that must be called out loudly.
What’s the ancient story concerning the king who received bad news from the battlefront and had the messenger killed?
Maybe the people who voted for Mayor Mamdani want to take some of the homeless people home (“Curb surge of despair,” Sept. 19).
The result of their vote has had consequences for all New Yorkers.
The smell of urine and the homeless shantytown is on them.
Give the rest of us shelter from their morally bankrupt ideas.
Congratulations, Mamdani, on your triumph in socialist policies regarding homelessness.
These policies have allowed the homeless population in New York City to grow — and the mayor has addressed the concerns about the homeless with great efficiency, making it a much better life journey for them.
Hopefully, the good mayor will develop a Yelp review program so the homeless can better decide where they will sleep at night.
Maybe the progressive students at NYU can help move this program along.
