Add Page Six on Google Kat Dennings revealed that she refused to film a shirtless scene on her hit “2 Broke Girls” series.
“There was a scene where Max and Caroline are just wearing bras,” Dennings recalled in a TikTok of her and co-star Beth Behrs’ characters. “They were just wearing bras and they were running around in the apartment set.”
“The 40 Year Old Virgin” actress added that at the time, she didn’t have “a lot of pull” to make demands or refuse to do something because “we were young and very lucky to be on a show that was successful.”
However, following a table read for the episode, which she said was in Season 1 or 2, Dennings approached showrunner Michael Patrick King and said, “I’m gonna need you to take out the bra scene, or have us wearing clothes during the scene.”
The actress claimed that King replied, “No I mean, this is the scene.”
Dennings, 40, said she shot back, “You don’t pay me enough for a bra scene,” and it was subsequently removed.

She noted, “Never underestimate yourself, is the moral of the story. And they weren’t paying me enough, although I don’t think anyone could.”
Page Six reached out to Dennings, King and CBS for comment.
“2 Broke Girls” aired on CBS from 2011 to 2019, for six seasons and over 130 episodes. The hit sitcom’s 2011 series premiere scored nearly 20 million viewers.
The show followed Max (Dennings) and Caroline (Behrs), two friends and roommates working as waitresses in a Brooklyn diner.
Dennings, who has been married to musician Andrew W.K. since 2023, has frequently talked about body image issues and Hollywood.
During a January 2025 interview with People, she recalled that she used to ask her manager how an audition went, only to get the feedback, “Well, they thought you weren’t pretty enough and you’re fat.”
Earlier this week, the “Thor” actress posted about “2 Broke Girls” celebrating its 15th anniversary on Instagram, and wrote in the caption, “Beth and I both left with PTSD but also money so that’s nice!”
