Following their high-scoring 59-37 win over the Carolina Panthers, Caleb Williams and co. will take on the 1-0 Minnesota Vikings in their first home game and NFC North matchup of the year at Chicago’s Soldier Field this afternoon.
Oddsmakers give Ben Johnson’s reigning division champions a 5.5-point edge over their Midwest rivals.
A lot of what happens on the field though may hinge on Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray, who was injured in Week 1.
His absence led to backup Carson Wentz taking the reins and leading the Purple People Eaters to a huge 39-22 victory against the Green Bay Packers.
“I want to highlight Carson Wentz for a second,” Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell said after the game. “Without any doubt on that sideline, you guys knew what was coming, and he went out there, poised it all, calmed everyone down, and he went out, and helped us win that football game.”
Regardless, the bottom line here is that both of these teams are exciting, possibly playoff-bound perennial contenders, making this game a must-watch for Week 2.
