Add The New York Post on Google New Celtics big man Mitchell Robinson’s brother, Zeek, was hit by a car while out for a jog Tuesday, according to the victim’s grandfather, who shared the news in a Facebook post.
Robinson, who was absent from the Celtics’ press conference Tuesday introducing their new players, reshared the Facebook post and wrote, “Prayers for my little brother my dawg can’t catch a break” with a cross emoji and a somber face emoji.
The Celtics said Robinson was absent due to personal reasons.
The Celtics moved forward with the introductory press conference, which included Paul George and Mike Conley Jr., and said they “look forward to introducing [Robinson] soon.”
Taking to his Instagram Story later that day, Robinson shared a video edit of him getting shots up at his alma mater, Chalmette High School in Louisiana, and a clip of country singer Megan Moroney in her music video for the song, “Wedding Dress.”
Robinson, fresh off a 2026 NBA title run with the Knicks, signed a three-year, $47.4 million contract with Boston in July after spending his first eight seasons with the Knicks.
Robinson played a key role in the Knicks’ road to their first championship in 53 years, when they beat the Spurs in five games in June.
The 7-footer averaged 5.6 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 60 games (16 starts) last season.
He shot 72.3 percent from the field and averaged 4.2 offensive rebounds per game, the latter ranking second in the NBA.
