Written by Diablo Cody and directed by Karyn Kusama, it’s a tonally perfect horror comedy about a toxic teen girl friendship between Amanda Seyfried and Megan Fox. It just so happens that one of those teens is also a murderous succubus. From 9/11 allegories to the not-so-subtle sapphic undertones, Cody and Kusama captured exactly what it felt like to be a teen in the early 2000s, and made a kick-ass horror film in the process.

But while they attempt to move on with their lives, a hooked-hand killer begins to stalk them, in order to remind them that, well, someone knows what they did last summer. From Jennifer Love Hewitt to Sarah Michelle Gellar to Freddie Prinze Jr., this movie features all your ’90s faves.

This terrifying supernatural thriller follows a psychiatrist (played by Sosie Bacon) who witnesses a patient taking her own life. Following that traumatic incident, she becomes haunted by a terrifying image—everyone in her life starts smiling. But it’s not like, a nice smile. It’s the creepiest smile ever. Writer/director Parker Finn really knows just how scary a forced smile can be.

If you’re looking for spooky vibes without the scares, The Addams Family movie a perfect choice. Based on the comic book strip characters created by Charles Addams, and subsequent TV show, this campy supernatural comedy tells the story of a strange, macabre family who dabble in the occult and delight in their bizarre, gothic aesthetic. If you love Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Adams in the Netflix spin-off, this is a must-watch. And after you watch the first film, you can watch the sequel, Addams Family Values, also streaming free on Pluto TV.

In the mood for some good old-fashioned slasher gore? Then look no further than the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre film. After a group of teens make the mistake of picking up a hitchhiker, they find themselves being brutally slaughtered by a chainsaw-wielding, masked maniac, aka Leatherface. You can thank this movie for originating many of the slasher tropes that still permeate the genre over 50 years, from the masked killer to the final girl. For horror film aficionados, it’s an essential watch.

When an evil force descends on the family, Thomasin is accused of witchcraft. And honestly? They might be right.

Before the MTV show starring Tyler Posey and Dylan O’Brien, there was the bizarre, campy, coming-of-age ’80s comedy starring Michael J. Fox. Fox stars as popular teen boy, star of his high school’s basketball team, who wakes up one morning to discover he’s inherited a family curse: He’s a werewolf! But he’s not going to let a little fur and some claws keep him from the court. This movie is pure silly fun, perfect for a non-scary Halloween watch.

No one does Halloween vibes like the goth king Tim Burton, and one of Burton’s most Halloween-y movies ever—his retelling of Washington Irving’s 1820 short story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”—is streaming for free on Pluto TV. Depps stars as Ichabod Crane, a police constable sent to investigate the village of Sleepy Hollow, where residents are being decapitated.

Cannibalism is definitely a creepy horror movie staple, but it’s also strangely romantic in this critically-acclaimed film adaptation of the 2015 novel of the same name, by Camille DeAngelis. Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet stars as two teens who fall in love and roadtrip across the country in 1988. They just so happen to also share a craving for human flesh. Though the film failed to make a splash at the box office, it was beloved by critics, and considered by some to be one of the best horror flicks of the century so far.

You can watch the original Hellraiser movie that launched a 11-film franchise streaming for free, right now, on Pluto TV. The franchise, based on a 1986 novella from the film’s writer/director Clive Barker, centers on a puzzle box that, when used correctly, opens a gateway to a realm of demonic creatures called Cenobites, and their malevolent leader, Pinhead. The first film was known for its graphic, bloody, and disturbing depictions of horror. In fact, many of the most graphic scenes were cut by Barker, in order to get an R-rating for the film.

Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula has been adapted countless times, but Francis Ford Coppola’s version is surely one of the staples for vampire fans. The inimitable Gary Oldman stars as the pointy-toothed count, while Keanu Reeves plays the protagonist Jonathan Harker, who traverses to Transylvania and finds himself in the creatures home. Anthony Hopkins plays Van Helsing, and Winona Ryder plays Mina Harker. That’s a stacked cast for a spooky classic.

After you watch Coppola dark, serious take on vampires, then you can check out Eddie Murphy’s not-so-serious version—starring Murphy as a Brooklyn-based, millennia-old vampire named Max—as a palette cleanser.
