Add The California Post on Google A party thrown for the wives and girlfriends of the Los Angeles Rams went from joyous to melancholy in a hurry on Thursday.
Matthew Stafford’s wife, Kelly, hosted a lavish bash in Southern California so the Rams’ significant others could get together and watch Los Angeles take on the 49ers in Australia, but unfortunately for the women, the blowout put a damper on the festivities.
Instagram posts from the event show the vibe was initially jubilant, with nearly every notable Rams WAG — including head coach Sean McVay’s wife, Veronika — attending.
The women shared on social media they received a bunch of goodies courtesy of Kelly, including food, drinks, beauty products and customized apparel.
However, once everyone sat down in front of a pop-up big screen set up in the yard, there was a clear shift in the mood.
The Rams were dominated 27-7 by San Francisco in Melbourne, and as the game went on, the WAGs’ posts were less frequent.
However, cornerback Trent McDuffie’s fiancée, Gabby Espositio, said she was grateful for the gathering.
“Though the game didn’t exactly go how we hoped,” Esposito wrote on her IG Stories, “queen @kbstafford89 came through with the best welcome to LA.”
Esposito added that Kelly “absolutely SPOILED us.”
The Rams’ partners will have to wait a bit to do it again; LA doesn’t play next until Sept. 21 in a “Monday Night Football” home game against the Giants.
