Add The New York Post on Google Anthony Volpe looks like he doesn’t want to be sent back to the minors again.
The 25-year-old Volpe, playing second base Thursday night, drilled a grand slam in the seventh inning to give the Yankees a 10-2 lead over the Rockies.
It had already been a good night for Volpe, who was 2-for-3 with two singles and an RBI. But the grand slam capped off a special five-RBI night for the beleaguered infielder who has had his struggles this season.

Volpe was tearing it up offensively in his minor league stint and got his latest chance after Jazz Chisholm Jr. was forced to go to the injured list with a thumb injury.
Ironically, Volpe’s grand slam, the second of the season for the Yankees, followed George Lombard Jr.’s grand slam in the Bombers’ win over the Rockies on Wednesday night.
Lombard was called up to play shortstop at the same time Volpe was demoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
