Add The California Post on Google Horrifying new video shows a fiery plane crash at a San Diego airport that left two people dead.
Eyewitnesses captured video of the terrifying moment, after the Cessna Skyhawk plunged into the runway Monday at the Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport in Kearny Mesa.
Mauricio Godinez and Melizza Cardiel Godinez were at a nearby hangar when they heard the aircraft slam into the runway.
“We heard this loud boom. She peeks out, she tells me a plane crashed,” Godinez told ABC 10.
“I peek outside, and yes, a plane definitely crashed.”
In the video, flames can be seen engulfing the plane as Cardiel rushes toward the aircarft to see if she can help.
But the blaze was burning intensely and it had completely torched most of the plane, leaving little more than the back of it exposed.
“The flames was just too much,” Cardiel recalled
“If we would have gotten in there, we would have gotten burned ourselves.”
Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board and FAA spent the day Tuesday combing the scene as they searched for answers, the outlet reported.
An initial report from the FAA said the crash happened while the pilot was trying to land.
The left wing of the plane dipped and the aircraft then “appeared to stall and spun into the ground,” according to the report obtained by ABC 10.
Earlier surveillance footage showed the aircraft appearing to gain elevation before suddenly taking a nosedive at the airport early Monday evening, ABC 10 reported.
The two passengers killed in the crash have yet to be identified.
Results of the investigation into the crash are not expected for weeks.
The tragic incident comes just two days after another plane crash in Fresno claimed the lives of all four of its occupants.
Flight instructor Danna Eady, 41, her husband Craig, 44, and their two sons, Pavel, 10, and Remus, 13, died after the fiery wreck near the Sierra Sky Park Airport on Saturday.
