Chisholm jammed the thumb diving into second base Tuesday night.
It is brutal timing for Chisholm and the Yankees, a day after Aaron Judge made his long-awaited return from the IL.

No decision had been made on Chisholm’s replacement as of Boone’s pregame press conference, though Boone said he’s comfortable with Anthony Volpe playing second base in the majors.
Jose Caballero and Amed Rosario could be part of a rotation at second.
While expanding his defensive versatility, Volpe has been on fire of late at the plate.
Over his last 17 games at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, he was batting .333 with eight home runs and a 1.218 OPS.
