The headline-making series is based on the novel of the same name by Bret Easton Ellis, which follows rich prep school teens whose lives are upended by a serial killer in 1981 Los Angeles.

The ninth and final episode of “The Shards” Season 1 hits Hulu on Sept. 9, 2026 at 9 p.m. ET.
“The Shards” season finale begins streaming on Hulu in just a few days, so you’ll need a subscription to tune in and catch up. If you’re new to Hulu, the basic (with ads) price is $11.99/month. If you want to upgrade to an ad-free plan, it costs $18.99/month.

Gerber and Gere have been giving fans flashbacks to another era in more ways than one throughout the retro series’ press tour, given Homer’s dad Richard Gere and Kaia’s mom Cindy Crawford were married from 1991 to 1995.
“He’s such a wonderful actor. I mean, my god. This was his second thing that he ever did,” Gerber told the Associated Press of Homer. “He has this confidence and this charisma. He’s so magnetic to watch … He’s also just a really great guy.”
