Add The New York Post on Google Silver spoon socialist Gustavo Gordillo finally spoke out about the sea of scandals surrounding him — but dodged the damning revelations about his phony working class credentials, The Post has learned.
The Yale-educated co-chair of NYC Democratic Socialists of America — who was exposed by The Post as a nepo baby and cosplaying a union worker — failed to even mention he’d been fired from his electrician gig, tried to hide it from his comrades and lied about his family wealth in an email to party members Tuesday.
Gordillo, 38, called the scandal that has hounded him “pure lies and fabrication” — but falsely claimed that he quit his union gig to focus on DSA duties when in fact he was canned in March for blowing off work.
“I stopped working as a union electrician earlier this year because it was untenable to have a physically demanding construction job and be co-chair of NYC-DSA,” he wrote in the letter exclusively obtained by the paper. “It was impossible to do a good job at work while balancing an increasingly full-time role in chapter leadership.”
Gustavo has continued his brazen dupe to unknowing members and the public by boasting in his X profile of being the NYC DSA “co-chair, union electrician union election.”
Just last year, he posted a pic in construction gear and a union t-shirt on his “unionGustavo” X account on May 1, 2025 with the message, “Happy international workers day” — although he wasn’t a full-fledged union member and would ultimately flunk out due to “prolonged” absences.
His handle remains “unionGustavo” on the account.
Gordillo, who lives in a $1.5 million Brooklyn townhouse his millionaire dad bought for him, has been under fire in recent months after his claims of an immigrant working class background crumbled.
The Post also confirmed that he stopped paying rent on a Crown Heights apartment where he was crashing while his dad’s upscale Bedford Stuyvesant townhouse was being renovated — even as he was lobbying DSA members to approve a $95,000 annual salary for him and his co-chair.
The revelations exposed Gordillo’s claims that he is the son of poor working-class Peruvian immigrants, whose dad flipped burgers at Wendy’s and his mom cleaned houses to make ends meet.
In fact, his father, Gustavo E. Gordillo, is a Miami millionaire who founded and serves as CEO of DraftPros, a $95 million telecommunications company with high-profile clients like AT&T and Verizon.
The elder Gordillo confirmed that he bought his son the Brooklyn townhouse, which also underwent nearly $1.4 million in upgrades and renovations.
Gordillo’s fake resume was exposed after a glowing New York Times puff piece and a media tour promoting socialism and denouncing capitalism — with the Times later forced to disclose they had been duped following revelations by The Post.
Earlier this week, Big Apple civil rights leaders and public housing tenant advocates called out Gordillo and demanded that he quit his DSA party post.
“The problem boils down to the lying,” the Rev. Kevin McCall said at a rally outside Gordillo’s home. “Because if a person that lives in public housing is looking up to you, is hearing things that you say that you, quote-unquote ‘stand for,’ and then it’s a lie, it doesn’t make no sense.”
Ramona Ferreyra, a former DSA member and founder of the tenant advocacy group Save Section 9, agreed that Gordillo doesn’t have the cred to speak for the city’s working class.
“You can’t simply go to an Ivy League school and read the ‘Little Red Book’ and turn around and think that you can deliver the policies that truly serve the working class,” she said.
