Add The New York Post on Google A woman disguised in large sunglasses and a bucket hat tried to kidnap a little girl at an Upper Manhattan subway station earlier this summer – but gave up when the six-year-old’s mom stopped her, cops and sources said.
The brazen would-be kidnapper approached the kid and her mom from behind at the Inwood–207th Street station around 12:30 p.m. July 29, snatched the girl and tried to bring her onto the train, police said.
But her plan was thwarted when the shocked mother stepped in and the would-be kidnapper took off on the southbound A train alone, according to law enforcement sources.
The girl was treated by responding EMS workers at the scene.
More than two months later, the mystery woman remains on the loose, police said.
The NYPD released photos of her near the turnstiles wearing the dark shades, light blue oversized-hat, black-and-white patterned shirt and black pants.
