The Horizon Estate at 1853 Bel Air Road leases for $195,000 a month. Instagram/horizonestatela Who says there’s a luxury lull in the LA real estate market?
We hear that one “prominent” tech founder just signed a lease on the Horizon Estate at 1853 Bel Air Road for $195,000 a month. That would make the deal one of the highest publicly reported residential rents ever in the swank enclave that’s home to Jennifer Aniston and The Weeknd, among other A-listers.
Leases approaching $200,000 per month are extremely rare. The last example we could find was 10979 Chalon Road for $200,000 per month, according to a 2020 Forbes report.
So, what exactly is the mystery tenant getting for his (or her) $195,000 a month? The estate spans approximately 20,500 square feet across three levels and sits on 1.4 acres, with canyon and ocean views, nine bedrooms, a resort-style pool and spa, private gym, theater, wine lounge and extensive entertaining spaces.
Shawn Elliott and Michael Rodgers of Nest Seekers International held the listing. “The ultra-luxury market remains very strong, and this rental reflects continued confidence and spending power at the very top of the market,” Elliott told us. “Exceptional properties like this one are still commanding premium pricing.”
Adds Rodgers: “Ultra-prime rentals in Bel Air are driven by scarcity. When a property combines acreage, privacy, views and resort-level amenities, it can command pricing few homes in Los Angeles can achieve.”
Elliott and Rodgers aren’t revealing the identity of Bel-Air’s newest billionaire neighbor.
But we hear Sam Altman has been spending an increasing amount of time interfacing with Hollywood types. He’s a possibility. Maybe tech-adjacent scion Megan Ellison has tired of London, where we hear she’s living. Then again, it could be that crazy-spending SuperFile founder Shane Valdez we told you about back in April. We will keep you posted!
