Odell Beckham Jr. turns back the clock with one-handed Giants practice catch

Add The New York Post on Google Observations from Tuesday’s Giants practice:

QB Jaxson Dart perfectly placed a pass over WR Darnell Mooney’s shoulder after he beat DB Ar’Darius Washington down the seam. Mooney finished the play by running for a touchdown, but he also had multiple catches to the sideline on a day when he looked worthy of a starting role.

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. during football practice on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in East Rutherford, N.J. Noah K. Murray-NY Post Off center C John Michael Schmitz Jr. got bulldozed by edge rusher Abdul Carter coming down the middle of the defense on a pass rush. Schmitz somersaulted as Carter kept charging. It has been a concern through Schmitz’s first three seasons whether he possesses the strength to anchor against bull rushes.

WR Odell Beckham Jr. made a jumping one-handed stab of a pass thrown behind him and got his feet down inbounds before rolling over during the routes-on-air portion of practice. Beckham let out a shriek as if to say, “That’s more like it.”

In addition to the potentially season-ending knee injury suffered by WR Calvin Austin III, WR Jalin Hyatt (ankle/leg), OG Josh Ezeudu (leg) and TE Theo Johnson (who collided with Kayvon Thibodeaux during Monday’s practice) did not practice. RG Francis Mauigoa and RT Jermaine Eluemunor were limited to individual periods.
