Geno Smith making all the right Jets connections

Add The New York Post on Google Observations from Tuesday’s Jets practice:

The rapport between quarterback Geno Smith and his top two receivers, Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell, was on full display. He connected with each of them five times. The highlight was a deep ball down the left sideline in which Smith hit Mitchell in stride.

Jets quarterback Geno Smith (7) throws during practice at training camp. Bill Kostroun/New York Post This one hurts The Jets held their final training camp practice of the summer, and rookies D’Angelo Ponds and Kenyon Sadiq remained off to the side with trainers. This was not the start the team envisioned for two of their top draft picks. Ponds injured his calf in the first practice of the summer, while Sadiq went through three practices before being shelved after a setback from a spring hernia operation.

Tight end Mason Taylor made the play of the day, reaching over safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to haul in a long Smith pass in 7-on-7 drills. Taylor will be particularly important early on due to the uncertainty over Sadiq.

Running backs Breece Hall and Isaiah Davis, along with Ponds and Sadiq, remained out. They worked off to the side.
