Kathy Griffin ‘hurt’ by longtime pal Rosie O’Donnell’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel’ snub

Add Page Six on Google Kathy Griffin called out her longtime pal Rosie O’Donnell for not extending an invitation while guest-hosting “Jimmy Kimmel Live” this week.

“I’m just going to come out and say it. Are you ready? It’s embarrassing to say, but I have to tell you guys because we’re friends,” the comedian began in an Instagram Reel Wednesday. “My feelings are really hurt that I was not invited to Rosie’s week of ‘Jimmy Kimmel [Live].'”

While Griffin admitted that O’Donnell “may have no say” in which guests are invited, she said the snub was a huge letdown as many fans expected her to appear on the late-night show.

“I started getting more correspondence and just friends calling me that know me and know the two of us to be friends, and saying, ‘Which night are you doing it? Are you going to be a surprise? Are you guys going to do a sketch or just a sit-down interview?'”

Because of all the messages, Griffin got “kind of excited” about what could be “a really cool moment.”

“Then that moment passed — and kept passing,” the producer said.

Griffin did express her support for O’Donnell’s hosting gig and encouraged her followers to watch the show and support her.

“I just think it’s a tricky situation because I’m having all kinds of the feels. I will watch every night and cheer her on, of course,” she concluded.

During the Wednesday episode of her “Talk Your Head Off” podcast, Griffin also claimed she had a chance to catch up with O’Donnell on a recent flight to Los Angeles, where she told her she would love to be a guest.

However, O’Donnell didn’t seem to appreciate her friend’s public callout on her podcast.

“Kathy- shoulda called me honey – I didn’t choose the guests …” she commented on the post, confirming Griffin’s theory.

Many other social media users agreed that Griffin should have handled the situation privately — especially because of their longstanding friendship.

“This could have been in an email…. What was your intention on stirring this up publicly? 👀 love you but this is very pick me behavior to someone who is NOT in charge (Rosie),” one netizen wrote.

“We love Kathy. We love Rosie. We want Kathy to talk to Rosie about the feels, not us,” another added.

A third person said, “This sounds like u could’ve sent her a text message if you’re friends. Taking it to the internet to capitalize off her moment is so tacky.”

The two actresses have been friends for decades, with Griffin acknowledging their sisterly bond during Wednesday’s podcast.

“We’re like sisters, and everybody knows sisters fight, sisters and brothers fight. Best friends fight, relatives, co-workers fight. And we’re not even fighting.”
