Selma Blair goes for a dip in Mexico one year after revealing she was ‘truly’ in MS remission

Add Page Six on Google Selma Blair was spotted soaking up the sun during a beach getaway in Mexico, one year after revealing that she is in remission from multiple sclerosis (MS).

The 54-year-old actress was photographed taking a dip in the ocean in a patterned triangle bikini top and green bottoms, wearing goggles as she made her way through the water.

She later sported a sheer polka-dot cover-up, which she eventually removed as she continued enjoying her time by the shore in Los Cabos.

Blair appeared all smiles as she emerged from the surf and made her way toward the sand. She was seen navigating the choppy waves before settling back on the beach.

In October 2018, the “Cruel Intentions” star revealed on Instagram that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis that August, though she said she had been experiencing symptoms for years.

“I am disabled,” Blair wrote in the caption, in part. “I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken [GPS].”

The “Legally Blonde” actress shared that she struggled to get dressed and even play with her son, while reassuring fans that she was OK.

A year after her diagnosis, Blair posed in a bright red Eres bikini in a photo shared on Instagram.

She also showed off her newly shaved head, which she debuted after announcing that she had been discharged from the hospital in July 2019 following treatment.

In August 2021, Blair revealed that she was in remission, three years after her initial diagnosis, during a virtual appearance at the Television Critics Association panel.

“My prognosis is great. I’m in remission. Stem cell [treatment] put me in remission,” she said at the time. “It took about a year after stem cell [treatment] for the inflammation and lesions to really go down.”

Blair also said she had “never really liked life” until that point.

“Because life’s so weird. I was so scared in life,” she explained. “To suddenly start to find an identity and a safety in [myself], to figure out boundaries, time management and energy… I’m having the time of my life.”

In August 2025, Blair told People at The Daily Front Row’s 9th annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards that she was “truly in remission.”

“I am doing amazingly well,” Blair said at the event. “I’ve been feeling great for about a year. But I am finally well enough to really, genuinely… I always try to feel my best, but now that I actually have stamina and energy… going out isn’t so scary.”
