Aaron Donald back with the Rams? His former teammate says it would be a ‘dream come true’

Add The California Post on Google Byron Young has not called or texted Aaron Donald. He has not sent him a recruiting pitch, helped him with a comeback plan or tried to convince the retired Los Angeles Rams legend to put his helmet back on again.

Bryant was asked about Donald returning to a Rams defensive front that already features Myles Garrett and if he’s hoping it will happen.

“That would be a dream come true,” Young said. “I would love to play with him again.”

Young played alongside Donald during his rookie season and described that experience as a “blessing.” He said Donald did more for him than just command double-teams and collapse pockets. He also taught Young how to survive the emotional rhythm of an NFL game.

“He taught me to be patient,” Young said. “Understanding that every play has its own story. If you make a mistake, leave that play behind you and move on to the next one.”

Young reiterated to the California Post on Monday that he has not spoken directly with Donald about a possible return and does not intend to place expectations on someone who has already earned his place as one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history.

“He put his time in,” Young said. “Whatever he decides, I’m behind him.”

Young envisions what we all do. Garrett rushing from one side. Donald detonating the middle. Young attacking from a different angle while Kobe Turner creates pressure inside. It’s a quarterback’s nightmare.

Young was asked to go into further detail of what that defensive front could look like if Donald returns, but he stopped short.

“We’ve got to wait and see,” he said. “I don’t want to put expectations out there, but it would definitely be fun to watch.”

But for opposing offensive linemen assigned to block them, it sounds more like an afternoon of a torture than a fun day at the office.
