Police finish investigation against Jets’ Geno Smith after woman’s troubling social media post

Add The New York Post on Google The investigation into a June 21 incident involving Geno Smith and a woman at his home has concluded and no charges are being brought against the Jets quarterback, according to police.

A report obtained by The Post from the Davie (Fla.) Police Department says the case has been declared inactive.

“Due to the inability to review surveillance footage, conflicting stories, and lack of independent witnesses, (the officer) was unable to determine the primary aggressor in the physical altercation,” per the report.

Bill Kostroun/New York Post A woman posted video to social media that showed Smith and claimed that “Geno just beat my ass” and “ran outside and attacked me.” She also claimed that Smith broke her computer, threw away her purse and stole money from her car.

The unidentified accuser is not the same woman as the mother of Smith’s son, who later defended Smith as a father by saying “Geno is and always has been more than capable of taking care of his son.”

The woman posted the video to social media as the police were investigating the case.
