Is Grown Ups 3 going to make it to screens anytime soon? Don’t ask Tim Meadows, he’s just as curious as fans are!
16 years after Grown Ups hit theaters and introduced the world to a friend group comprised of Lenny (Adam Sandler), Eric (Kevin James), Kurt (Chris Rock), Marcus (David Spade), and Rob (Rob Schneider), fans are impatiently waiting to see the gang reunite for another go, especially after all the actors expressed interest in returning.
Chatting with DECIDER about his CBS comedy series, DMV, Meadows — who has appeared in Grown Ups and Growns Up 2 as “Malcolm,” an adversarial character to the core friend group — touched on the status of the third film in the franchise, saying that he hasn’t been given any major updates recently.
“I have heard nothing about Grown Ups 3,” Meadows said with a laugh. “I’m somewhere down low on the call sheet on that movie. I’m like number 30 or something, but we’ll see.”
He added, “I’ve heard nothing. And actually, I was just with Colin Quinn in Chicago. We did some stand-up shows, and he didn’t bring it up, even though we talked about it a little bit. But we did talk about the movie. We just talked about old times.”
Meadows’ statement comes months after Kevin James spoke with The Direct and gave fans a reason to hope that a third Grown Ups film could be in the works from Sandler, who has co-written the last two films, and Dennis Dugan, Sandler’s frequent collaborator and the director of the first two Grown Ups movies.
“I think there have been [conversations]. And I think, yeah, I think you can keep hope alive. I can say that. I would keep a lot of hope alive. And I think it’s happening—something’s happening. I can say that,” the King of Queens actor told the outlet in 2025.
Additionally, in October, Sandler spoke at AFI Fest and said that there is certainly momentum and excitement around the project, but that things are still up in the air. In short, scripts are not written and production dates are not set, but the cast and crew are on board.
“You know what? I don’t know what’s going to happen … if we’re just trying to do a lot of stuff,” Sandler told Us Weekly. “I would love it. We’d love it. Everybody’s working on stuff. To be with those guys would be incredible. I had the best time making both those movies, but we don’t know what the hell is happening quite yet.”
Should things start moving and grooving, it can only be a profitable venture for the gang, as the first film cost an estimated $75 million to produce and raked in over $272 million at the box office in 2010. Similarly, the 2013 sequel made $247 million on an $80 million budget.
Here’s hoping this group gets to work on bringing more laughs to the world ASAP.
