Renters freaked out to discover ‘creepy’ hidden room in Airbnb: ‘Was used for something not legal’

It’s one thing to discover something hidden in an old home you just purchased — but to find something creepy in an Airbnb you’re renting for a vacation, that’s the plot of a horror movie waiting to happen.

TikTok user @mich3113.0 posted a now-viral video showing a Dallas, Texas rental home with a hidden door in an unexpected place, freaking out the group of vacationers.

The video, which has garnered nearly 20 million views, shows what appears to be a completely normal bedroom. As the camera moves around the bed, it pans up to the ceiling, revealing a door.

WORST/ creepiest air bnb ever.. #fyp #foryou #scary #secretroom #airbnb

While this sounds like an attic situation, it was more concerning than that.

It was a group effort, as two vacationers helped lift a third to check out what, in the horror movie, was up there — which was an entirely separate room of some sort.

It was clear this wasn’t an attic but more of a suspicious hidden room. TikTok/@mich3113.0 Nearly 3,000 commenters rushed to share their thoughts on this beyond startling find.

“Reminds me of Barbarian the movie. always check out ur airbnb,” one wrote.

“There’s zero reason for a part of a house like this to exist. The only reasons that can be possible are for the wrong thing. So I know 100% at a certain point, this was used for something not legal,” pointed out someone else.

The vacationers were freaked out to find this. TikTok/@mich3113.0 “that’s a hard pass…HARD PASS,” quipped someone else.

Another shared a similar experience they’ve had: “my airbnb had a bunch of mini doors that led to underground tunnels and they were not blocked off or anything and when i wanted to leave everyone said i was being dramatic…the tv turned on by itself and the remote moved in my room (i did not touch either the whole time i was there) oh and i heard the toilet flush on its own (it was not automatic and no one else was awake) but sureee i’m crazy for being suspicious of airbnbs.”

“just book a hotel man it’s not worth it,” advised someone else.

The TikToker posted some follow-up videos showing the vacationers sleeping in the same room with the door locekd and then another showing the actual listing, warning others not to book, saying the listing pictures were not accurate, there were stains on the bed, “felt very old and depressing.”

It’s unsure if the group checked out early or filed a complaint.
