מרדכי בהר
Mordehai "Max" Bahar
בן אסתר ורוברט, נולד בשנת 1921 בקהיר, בירת מצרים. היה בעל השכלה תיכונית. מרדכי שאף להגיע לארץ-ישראל ובשנת 1946 הצליח לממש את שאיפתו זו. הוא נתקבל לעבוד כפקיד בלשכת- המודיעין של ממשלת המנדט בירושלים אך בסתר שירת במחתרת ה"הגנה" והיה בה מן הפעילים ביותר. עם החרפת המצב הביטחוני בירושלים נטש את מקום עבודתו והצטרף בגלוי אל מגיני ירושלים. תחילה היה בין מלווי השיירות, ואחר-כך מילא תפקידים קרבים אחרים. באחד ממכתביו האחרונים כתב: "נשבענו לא לנוח ולא להניח את נשקנו, עד שארצנו תהיה משוחררת ואף צל של סכנה לא ירחף עליה". מרדכי נפל בקרב בקסטל ביום כ"ח באדר ב' תש"ח (8.4.1948) ונקבר בסנהדריה בירושלים. ביום ה' באלול תשי"א (6.9.1951) הועבר למנוחת-עלמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר-הרצל בירושלים.
