Turai Emanuel Mendel served in the Israel Defense Forces. Emanuel served with the Infantry. Emanuel served in the War of Independence.
בן יפה ומשה, נולד בשנת 1931 בירושלים. לאחר שסיים בית-ספר יסודי החל לעבוד כחשמלאי בחברת "אור וכוח" בירושלים. בהיותו בן 17, מתחת לגיל הגיוס, התנדב לצבא והיה מן המגויסים הראשונים לחטיבת ירושלים. הוא נשלח עם התגבורת לכפר עציון ונמנה עם מגיני הכפר עד הקרב האחרון. ביום נפילת הכפר נקבר אף הוא תחת הריסות בניין המנזר המפוצץ, ביום ג' באייר תש"ח (13.5.1948). ביום כ"ה בחשוון תש"י (17.11.1949) הובא למנוחת-עולמים, עם שאר חללי הגוש, בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר-הרצל בירושלים.
