Turai Eliezer Zeltzer served in the Israel Defense Forces. Eliezer served with the Givati Brigade. Eliezer served in the War of Independence. Eliezer was 19 years old.
בן מינדל ויוסף-צבי, נולד ביום י"א בטבת תרפ"ט (24.12.1928) בעיר מישקוליץ, הונגריה. הוא ואביו שרדו ממשפחה ענפה שהושמדה במחנה-המוות אושוויץ. לאחר המלחמה החל ללמוד רפואה באוניברסיטה בהונגריה. אך המאבק בארץ הדריך את מנוחתו ("אומלל אהיה כל ימי חיי וחיי לא יהיו חיים, אם לא אעשה כעת את המוטל עלי" - כתב לאביו מהאוניברסיטה). עם התלקחות הקרבות הפסיק את לימודיו ועלה לארץ ביום 30.6.1948 כדי להצטרף אל הלוחמים. הוא שירת בחיל הרגלים ובחטיבת "גבעתי", וביומן הגדוד שבו שירת מסופר על אומץ לבו והעזתו. הוא קיים בגופו מה שביטא בשיר שהקדיש ללוחמי גיטו ווארשה: "אות כי יהודי עם דיכוי לא ישלים, לא ישלים לעולם" (תירגם מהונגרית אביגדור המאירי). אליעזר נפל בקרב בהידוק המצור על כיס פלוג'ה, ביום ח' בחשוון תש"ט (10.11.1948). הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בכפר ורבורג.
