Turai Rishon Zalman Itzhaki served in the Israel Defense Forces. Zalman served with the Golani Brigade. Zalman served in the Six-Day War. Zalman was 20 years old.

What Happened

בן שמואל וחיה. נולד ביום כ"ד באייר תש"ז (14.5.1947) בחיפה; הוריו - חברי משק יגור. למד במשק וסיים בו את לימודיו התיכוניים. עבד בעבודת הפלחה. בהגיע מועד גיוסו לצה"ל גויס בנובמבר 1966, עבר את תקופת הטירונות בסיירת "גולני" ולאחר מכן הועבר לאחד מגדודיו. לפני שסיים את שירות החובה פרצה מלחמת ששת הימים, וביום הששי לקרבותיה, הוא ב' בסיון תשכ"ז (10.6.1967), נפל בקרב של מחנה הבניאס שברמת הגולן. הוא היה חייל מצטיין שהועד להתקדם בחיים הצבאיים, כפי שהעיד עליו מפקד פלוגתו, ועם שלא השתייך לפלוגה זמן ממושך קנה את עולמו כחבר וכלוחם מסור ומותו היווה מכה קשה לפלוגה כולה. הובא לקבורה בבית הקברות הצבאי בעפולה ולאחר זמן הועבר למנוחת עולמים בבית הקברות ביגור. ב"יומן יגור", עלון המשק שהוציא ל"שלושים", הועלה זכרו עם שאר בני המשק שנפלו במלחמה. מדור מיוחד הוקדש לו בחוברת "לזכרם" שהוציא הקיבוץ, בחוברת הזכרון "אשר נפלו במלחמה" של הקיבוץ המאוחד הועלה זכרו. ב"גוילי אש", כרך ד', ילקוט עזבונם של הבנים שנפלו במערכות ישראל, הובא מעזבונו.
