Turai Meir Abramovitch served in the Israel Defense Forces. Meir served with the Armored Corps. Meir served in the War of Independence. Meir was 17 years old.
בן דבורה-אסתר ודויד-יוסף, נולד ביום כ' בטבת תרצ"א (9.1.1931) בתל-אביב. למד בבית-ספר דתי, ונתקבל לעבודה כפקיד בבנק "המזרחי", כדי להקל את עול הפרנסה מעל הוריו. בערבים המשיך ללמוד בשיעורי-ערב בגימנסיה בעיר. היה פעיל בתנועת-הנוער הדתית "בני-עקיבא" והתאמן בגדנ"ע מתוך הבנת הצורך והמטרה. כשהחלו התקפות הערבים על היישוב היהודי, "הוסיף" שנה לגילו והתגייס לחטיבת "גבעתי". מאיר יצא עם חבריו בפלוגה הדתית של חי"ש להגן על בן-שמן, שם התאמן ושירת כרובאי וחבלן וביצע משימות מסוכנות באומץ וללא רתיעה. ביום י"ד באייר תש"ח (23.5.1948), בשעת פירוק מוקש בבן-שמן, דרש מחבריו שיתרחקו, מפני הסכנה להימצא בקרבת מוקש בשעת פירוקו. המוקש התפוצץ תוך כדי פירוק ומאיר נספה בהתפוצצות זו. הוא הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית- הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
