Turai Baruh Tzfadia served in the Israel Defense Forces. Baruh served with the Infantry. Baruh served in the War of Independence. Baruh was 18 years old.

What Happened

בן פרידה ועזרא, נולד ביום ד' בסיוון תרפ"ט (12.6.1929) בעיר חלב, סוריה. בן 14 הגיעה ארצה בשנת 1942 דרך עבר-הירדן, באופן "בלתי-חוקי", ועד אז כבר הספיק לסיים לימודיו ב"תלמוד תורה" ובבית-ספר "אליאנס" בעיר מוצאו וללמוד את מלאכת החייטות. שנתיים שהה בחברת נוער, בהכשרה, ושנה אחת שירת כנוטר במשמר החופים. משנת 1945 ואילך עבד כחייט ופירנס את הוריו. הוא הצטרף ל"הגנה" ושירת ביחידת חי"ש. בראשית מלחמת-העצמאות גוייס, שירת בחטיבת "גבעתי" והשתתף בפעולות רבות. בייחוד הצטיין בהגנת בית הקרן- הקיימת-לישראל שליד בית דגון בפני התקפה קשה שבוצעה בפיקוד גרמני. אחר-כך השתתף בליווי שיירות לירושלים. בעת מבצע "מכבי" לפריצת הדרך לירושלים יצאו מספר משוריינים לסייר את הדרך. ליד דיר- איוב נתקל הכוח בשריוניות בריטיות שפתחו באש לעברו וכוחות ערביים שהיו על הרכס הצטרפו לירי. בקרב זה נפל, ביום י"ח באייר תש"ח (27.5.1948). נקבר בשייח'-באדר א'. ביום כ"ח באלול תש"י (10.9.1950) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר- הרצל בירושלים.
