Samal Israel Rotenberg served in the Israel Defense Forces. Israel served with the Paratroopers Brigade. Israel was 19 years old.
בן משה ושפרינצה. נולד ביום כ"ו בכסלו תש"א (26.12.1940) בראשון-לציון. סיים את לימודיו בבית-הספר היסודי על-שם אוסישקין בכפר-סבא ולאחר-מכן נכנס לבית-הספר החקלאי "עיינות" ושם למד עד שהגיע לגיל-הגיוס; זה היה באוקטובר 1958. היה חבר גרעין בקבוצת אלומות. היה מסור מאד למשפחתו ובאחד מימי התמרונים שנערכו בדרום-הארץ ביקש חופשה מיוחדת לבוא הביתה כדי לתרום מדמו לאמו (החורגת) שהיתה לאחר ניתוח. בצה"ל הגיע לדרגת סמל. אך ביום כ"ד בכסלו תשכ"א (12.12.1960) נפל בשעת מילוי תפקידו כאשר הג'יפ שנסע בו התהפך. הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות האזרחי בראשון-לציון. חברי-גרעינו הוציאו חוברת לזכרו של ישראל. כן הועלה זכרו בספרו של אורי מילשטיין, "מלחמות הצנחנים".
