Turai Meir Rani served in the Israel Defense Forces. Meir served with the Infantry. Meir served in the War of Independence. Meir was 22 years old.
בן שרה ויוסף, נולד ביום י"ג באייר תרפ"ו (27.4.1926) בתל-אביב ולמד בבית-ספר יסודי ובתלמוד-תורה. עם סיום לימודיו אלה נאלץ לדאוג לקיומו ובהיותו בן 15 יצא לעבוד ועסק בכל מלאכה מזדמנת. במלחמת-העולם השנייה היה בין המתנדבים הראשונים ושירת ארבע שנים בצבא הבריטי. אחרי שחרורו שימש נהג בדואר. כשפרצה מלחמת-העצמאות, לאחר החלטת עצרת האו"ם על חלוקת הארץ לשתי מדינות, היה יוצא לשמירה ולעבודת ביצורים. בצבא שירת בחטיבת "כרמלי" כנהג, תחילה בצריפין ואחר-כך בעכו. מאיר נפל בהיותו בתפקיד על גבעת בלטון, בדרך מעכו לתרשיחא, ביום ח' בתשרי תש"ט (11.10.1948) והובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנהריה. השאיר אישה, רחל, ובן.
