בן בתיה ועזרא, נולד בשנת 1928 בסוריה. בשנת 1933, בהיותו בן חמש, לאחר פטירת אמו, הועלה לארץ. יוסף התחנך בבית-יתומים בירושלים עד סיום בית-הספר העממי ובגיל 14 יצא לעבודה ועמד ברשות עצמו. הוא הצטרף ל"נוער העובד" והיה לפועל-דפוס. יוסף עבר מהר את שלבי-הלימוד והיה לעובד מנוסה ומכובד על כל עובדי בית-הדפוס של "פלסטיין פוסט" בירושלים. בהיותו בן 16 הצטרף ל"הגנה" והיה פעיל בה בימי המאבק, ובראשית מלחמת-העצמאות בההגנה על ירושלים. עם קום המדינה התגייס לשירות מלא בחטיבת ירושלים והוסיף להשתתף בהגנת ירושלים ובתפקיד זה נפל בשכונת ימין-משה, ביום כ"א באייר תש"ח (30.5.1948). נקבר בשייח'-באדר א'. ביום כ"ח באלול תש"י (10.9.1950) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר- הרצל בירושלים.
