Segen Shmuel Leib served in the Israel Defense Forces. Shmuel served with the Nahal Brigade. Shmuel served in the Sinai Campaign. Shmuel was 21 years old.

What Happened

בן יצחק ורחל. נולד ביום כ"ט בשבט תרצ"ה (2.2.1935) בחיפה. למד בבית-הספר היסודי "זכרון יוסף" שעל הר-הכרמל, שנה - בבית-הספר לפקידות "במעלה" ולאחר-מכן שנתיים בבית-הספר המקצועי שליד הטכניון העברי בחיפה כדי שיוכל לעזור בפרנסת-משפחתו. השתייך לתנועת "הנוער העובד". היה מ"כ בגדנ"ע. בצאת ראשוני-הגרעין להכשרה בגשר (הכשרה שהפכה לגרעין ארצי ראשון של "הנוער העובד", הלא הוא "נתיב-שדה") היה הוא עם שישה-עשר הראשונים. היה שקט וצנוע תמיד גם בחיי-הפרט שלו ואף בקרב חבריו. היה חבר בקיבוץ בית-גוברין בו עבד כטרקטוריסט. השתתף בכמה פעולות-תגמול ואף בצעדה הראשונה כמפקד בנח"ל. את יציאתו לצבא באוגוסט 1953 ראה כצורך פנימי וברוח זו מילא את תפקידיו. הגיע לדרגת סגן. נפל בקרב במערכת-סיני ביום כ"ה במרחשון תשי"ז (30.10.1956). הובא לקבורה בבית-הקברות הצבאי לשעת-חירום בשלח וביום ה' במרחשון תשי"ח (30.10.1957) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בחיפה. אחרי נפלו צוין לשבח על-ידי מפקדת פיקוד-הדרום בחתימת הרמטכ"ל.
