What Happened

בן קריינצה ויוסף-מרדכי, נולד בחודש מרס 1909 בפולין. נפתלי התגורר בהונגריה, בעיר דונאיסקה סטרדה שבחבל סלובקיה, עד עלותו לארץ-ישראל בספינת-המעפילים "נעמי יוליה" בדצמבר 1939. היה שומר-מצוות, בעל השכלה תיכונית, חשמלאי לפי מקצועו. בארץ עבד כפועל בבית-החרושת לשוקולד "ליבר". עם פרוץ מלחמת-העצמאות מילא את חובתו בשמירה והתייצב בלשכת הגיוס עוד לפני הגיע תורו ועל אף היותו אב לשני ילדים והוצב בחטיבת "קריתי". במהלך מבצע "דני" השתלטו כוחותינו גם על אזור מודיעין ועם כניסת ההפוגה השנייה לתוקפה נתפסו משלטים באזור, אחד מהם משלט 219. הגיזרה היתה רגועה ובמשלט החזיק כוח חי"ם מחטיבת "קריתי". ביום 23.9.1948 תקפו את המשלט ערבים מקומיים ובסיוע הלגיון, במפתיע ותוך הפרת ההפוגה. מגיני המשלט הופתעו ונאלצו לסגת נוכח עדיפות האויב, ורבים נפגעו בנסיגה הקשה. למחרת תקפו כוחותינו נגד וכבשו את המשלט. בקרב זה נפל, ביום כ' באלול תש"ח (24.9.1948). הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
