Turai Avraham Barzovski served in the Israel Defense Forces. Avraham served with the Infantry. Avraham served in the War of Independence. Avraham was 20 years old.

What Happened

בן גולדה וחיים, נולד ביום ז' בניסן תרפ"ח (28.3.1928) בתל-אביב. את ראשית חינוכו קיבל בבית החינוך של העובדים ובבית-הספר לדוגמה, אחר-כך למד בבית-הספר התיכון של קיבוץ יגור וסיים את חוק לימודיו בבית-הספר המקצועי על שם מכס פיין בתל- אביב. היה חבר בתנועת "הנוער העובד" וחבר "הפועל" (כדורגל). בשנת 1945 התגייס למשטרת היישובים העבריים ושירת כנוטר- רכוב בתל-מונד. עם פרוץ מלחמת-העצמאות השתתף בהגנת תל- אביב על גבול יפו. שירת בנגב, בגבר עם ובדורות, ואחר-כך צורף לליווי שיירות לירושלים. זמנית הועבר למשטרה הצבאית בשרונה, אך התפטר משירותו זה, כי רצה להיות בחזית. כשניסו לעכבו מכך, אמר: "בעד המולדת טוב למות". ביום ד' בניסן תש"ח (13.4.1948) הגיע לירושלים כמלווה עם השיירה הגדולה. באותו יום הותקפה בשייח'-ג'ראח השיירה שעלתה להר-הצופים ואברהם יצא עם הכוח לחילוץ השיירה המותקפת. בקרב זה נפל חלל ונקבר בסנהדריה בירושלים. ביום כ"ה באלול תשי"א (26.9.1951) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בהר- הרצל בירושלים.
