Turai Yosef Azan served in the Israel Defense Forces. Yosef served with the Armored Corps. Yosef served in the War of Independence. Yosef was 17 years old.
בן ויקטוריה ושלמה, נולד ביום כ"ח בסיוון תרצ"א (13.6.1931) בדמשק, בירת סוריה. שם סיים בית-ספר עממי ועלה לארץ בשנת 1943 בהיותו בן 12. יוסף התגורר בשכונת התקווה בתל-אביב, למד נגרות ועסק במקצועו. בבואו לארץ הצטרף לה"הגנה", סיים קורס מ"כים אך לא עסק בפיקוד. בראשית מלחמת-העצמאות התגייס והיה בין המגינים על גבולות תל-אביב, משם הועבר לירושלים והיה בין הראשונים שליוו שיירות לירושלים. במשך כל זמן המצור על ירושלים היה במקור-חיים. בשעת פעולת-חבלה בבית-צפאפה נפצע קשה ברגלו ורק כעבור שישה חודשים החלים. ביום י"ד בחשוון תש"ט (16.11.1948), לפני שובו לשירות, השתתף בטיול לנגבה שנערך במסגרת חופשתו, ושם נפגע בצליפה ממשלט מצרי. יוסף הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
