Turai Itzhak Ekshtein served in the Israel Defense Forces. Itzhak served with the Infantry. Itzhak served in the War of Independence.
בן רחל וגרשון-חנוך, נולד בשנת 1924 בעיר בלכאטוב שבפולין. הוא למד בבית-ספר תיכון והצטרף לנוער החלוצי. אחרי פרוץ מלחמת- העולם השנייה נלקח ב-1940 משטח הכיבוש הרוסי ונשלח לסיביר. שם נתנסה בכל ייסורי הפליטים שהעדיפו עבודת-פרך על פני התאזרחות בברית-המועצות. אחרי ההתקפה הגרמנית על רוסיה הורשה גם הוא, כשאר הפליטים נתיני פולין, לצאת מירכתי הצפון לאזור דרומי יותר. הוא התגנב לתוך גדוד פולני שנשלח למזרח התיכון ויצא עימו מרוסיה. בעיראק נתפס, גויס כחייל ועם הגדוד הגיע לארץ ב-1943. כאן פשט את מדי-הצבא ונשאר אזרח בארץ. יצחק החל לעבוד באריגה ובמשך הזמן נשא אישה ונולד לו בן. כחבר ה"הגנה" גויס לשירות בשלב הראשון של מלחמת-העצמאות ושירת בחטיבת "קריתי". ביום ג' באדר א' תש"ח (13.2.1948), בשעת העברת קשר מאת מפקדו, נפל בשכונת התקווה בתל-אביב. הוא הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
