Turai Nisim Tovi served in the Israel Defense Forces. Nisim served with the Armored Corps. Nisim served in the War of Independence.

What Happened

בן קמר ושלום, נולד בשנת 1920 בתימן. כשעלה בבחרותו לארץ בשנת 1936 התייצב להגנת היישוב בשירות הנוטרות. במלחמת-העולם התגייס ליחידה עברית בצבא הבריטי. המשיך לשרת בבריגדה היהודית עד אחרי המלחמה. אחרי שחרורו מהצבא עבד כפועל חקלאי במושב כפר חיים והצטרף לפלמ"ח. כשפרצה מלחמת-העצמאות התייצב לשירות קרבי בחטיבת הנגב והשתתף בכל פעולות יחידתו עד שנפל בקרב על אשדוד. בליל 2-3 ביוני 1948, במסגרת מבצע "פלשת", השתתף בהתקפה על הטור המצרי ליד אשדוד. ההתקפה נכשלה אמנם נוכח עדיפות האויב, אך אילצה את המצרים להיערך במקום ובלמה את התקדמותם צפונה. בקרב זה נפל, ביום כ"ה באייר תש"ח (3.6.1948). ביום ט"ו בחשוון תש"י (7.11.1949) הועבר למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בנחלת יצחק.
