Itzhak "Izak" Zavak Zehavi
Turai Itzhak Zavak Zehavi served in the Israel Defense Forces. Itzhak served with the Armored Corps. Itzhak served in the War of Independence. Itzhak was 18 years old.
בן עליזה ואליהו, נולד ביום כ"ז בכסלו תר"ץ (29.12.1929) בבירות, בירת לבנון ועלה ארצה עם הוריו בשנת 1935. המשפחה התיישבה בחיפה ויצחק החל ללמוד בבית-ספר עממי. כשסיימו החל לעבוד והתפרנס מעבודתו. בערבים ובלילות הוסיף להשתלם בכוחות עצמו ורכש לו תעודת-בגרות בהצטיינות. זה היה סמוך להחלטת עצרת האו"ם על חלוקת הארץ, ויצחק, חבר ה"הגנה" זה מכבר, התגייס לשירות מלא. הוא סיים קורסים צבאיים שונים (ביניהם: חבלה) והוכיח את כושרו הרב. זמן קצר לפני מותו עלתה מכוניתו על מוקש ונפוצה שמועה שנעדר. השמועה נתבדתה והוא הופיע בבית הוריו בריא ושלם. אך ביום ד' בתמוז תש"ח (11.7.1948) - נספה בעת מבצע "ברוש", בנסותו למקש גשר בגיזרת משמר הירדן. הובא למנוחת-עולמים בבית-הקברות הצבאי בראש פינה.
