Their life
Carolyn Jeanne Bessette was born on January 7, 1966, in White Plains, New York, the youngest of three daughters; her elder sisters, Lauren and Lisa, were twins. She grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut, and graduated from Boston University in 1988 with a degree in elementary education. She went to work for Calvin Klein in Boston and in seven years rose to director of show production in New York.
She married John F. Kennedy Jr. on September 21, 1996, by candlelight in a small church on Cumberland Island, Georgia. From then on photographers followed her everywhere. She gave no interviews.
On July 16, 1999, she was flying with her husband and her sister Lauren to Martha's Vineyard when the plane went into the sea after dark. All three were killed. Their ashes were scattered together from the destroyer USS Briscoe on July 22. She was thirty-three.
