PUBLIC DOMAINGreg Pfountz
The C64 board that put colour and graphics on the caller's screen. Version 7.37 is public domain.
The story
Color 64 was Greg Pfountz's board, and its name said what it was for: colour and PETSCII graphics on the caller's screen at a time when many boards were plain text. It ran on a stock C64 and drives, and it was popular through the late 1980s.
Pfountz's last version was 7.37, and it was later released to the public domain with his blessing. Others carried it on: version 8.0 came with a new manual in 2005, and an overhaul labelled 8.1 arrived in 2025. The 8.x builds are given away free too, but only 7.37 has been put in the public domain, so 7.37 is the one for our shelf.
