The story

The 264 was the name under which Commodore first showed the machine that became the Plus/4, at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 1984. It was built around the new TED chip, which handled video, sound and input in one part, and it had 64 KB of RAM. The plan was for business buyers to choose the software built into its ROM; by the time it reached the shops in mid-1984 the choice had settled into the fixed 3-plus-1 suite of word processor, spreadsheet, database and graphics, and the 264 had become the Plus/4. Early 264 prototypes and pre-production boards survive with collectors.
