PETSCIITerm switches to ANSI when a board does
Call a board that answers in ANSI from a 64 and the screen now becomes an 80-column ANSI screen by itself.
Some boards greet every caller in ANSI, whatever machine is calling. Back In Time, in Hofheim, Germany, is one of them: its first screen asks you to use an ANSI terminal. Until today, calling it from a 64 on The Machines filled the screen with escape codes.
Now PETSCIITerm watches for the two characters that start every ANSI code. The moment they arrive, the screen becomes an 80-column ANSI screen and draws the board the way its sysop meant it to look.
The BBS list knows it as well: Back In Time is listed with ANSI screens, so you know before you dial. Visitors there log in as guest, with the password guest.
