G-FILE
Downloading And Uploading Here
Files live in the [$] FILE LIBRARIES on the main menu. Pick a library, then a file number to read what the file is and how big it is. Members download and upload. New callers can apply with NEW at the logon.
From The Web Door
Press D on the file. Your browser saves it under its real name. That is all there is to it.
From A PC Or Amiga Terminal
SyncTERM, NetRunner and the like. Press D on the file and pick ZMODEM. Most terminals see a ZMODEM transfer coming and start it by themselves; the file lands in your download folder. If yours does not, start a ZMODEM download from its transfer menu (ALT-D in SyncTERM).
A terminal with no ZMODEM can use XMODEM: pick X, then start an XMODEM download in your terminal.
From A Commodore
CCGMS and friends. Press D and pick PUNTER. When the board says so, start a Punter download in your terminal (F3 in CCGMS) and give the file a name. A full disk image is bigger than the free space on a 1541 disk, so save those to a larger drive or disk image.
Your Protocol
The board remembers the protocol you used last and offers it first. Press RETURN to take it, type another letter to change it, or Q to quit.
Uploading
Press U inside any library. Give the file a name, a type and one line about it, then send it the same way you would download: your browser's file box on the web door, or your terminal's upload with the protocol you picked. Only upload what you have the right to share: your own work, or files that are free to copy. Uploads wait in a holding library until the sysop checks them. Up to 1 MB, ten a day.
Stopping A Transfer
CTRL-X five times stops ZMODEM, twice stops XMODEM. If nothing happens, the board gives up by itself after about a minute and a half and puts you back where you were.
