Add The California Post on Google Facebook’s $725 million privacy class action lawsuit settlement keeps on giving — as users of the social media giant are expected to rake in more settlement money soon.

Facebook users who were active on the platform between May 24, 2007 and December 22, 2022 and signed up for the class action started to receive emails about the new payments starting early June.

“This additional settlement payment will be issued in the next 3-4 business days. The payment method you selected to receive your settlement payment was ACH,” the email, reviewed by The California Post, read.

The first rounds of payouts were made in September of last year. The United States District Court for the Northern District of California approved a second payout distribution in May 2026 — users are being paid over a period of four weeks.

However, the payout is not a life-changing amount of cash as it involved millions of users. Facebook had more than 240 million U.S. users in 2022. While all were eligible, payouts are only to be sent out to those who filed a claim.

Some people took to other social media platforms to boast about the not-so-grand settlement payment.

“Thanks to the Facebook privacy settlement I was able to buy TWO slices of pizza from 7-eleven today,” a payee wrote on X.

Another X user posted, “A Facebook class action settlement paid me $7.31! However shall I spend it?”

The class action lawsuit, sparked by the Cambridge Analytica scandal of 2018, was brought by Facebook users alleging that the social media giant misused their data and sold it to third parties. Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta Platforms agreed to shell out a whopping sum of $725 million to settle the lawsuit.
