15-year-old dead after dangerous ‘Benadryl challenge’ left her ‘brain dead,’ heartbroken father reveals

Add The New York Post on Google The heartbroken father of a 15-year-old left “brain dead” after taking part in a dangerous social media “challenge” has revealed his teenage daughter has now died from her injuries.

Leah Presson, 15, was left with “zero brain activity” after participating in the so-called “Benadryl challenge”, a viral contest sweeping the US that medical experts warn can quickly spiral into life-threatening territory.

The challenge, which sees people consume the allergy medication in dangerously high doses in order to cause a high with hallucinations, first emerged in 2020 – but has been steadily gaining momentum again in recent weeks.

Leah had been “fighting for life” after she began experiencing seizures directly after ingesting the medication, which is sold over the counter to those aged 18+ in America.

But her father, Richard Presson, has since confirmed the teen has passed away, despite the family clinging to hope when she was “pronounced brain dead” on June 14.
